About Us

Sandringham School is a small infant school in the middle of the Paddock Hill housing estate. It was built in 1983 primarily to serve the needs of the new housing estate but it has grown in popularity and now serves a much wider geographical area.  The school caters for 156 children aged 4-7. This allows all staff to know all children and their families.

The school buildings are modern and situated in a spacious pleasant site.  They are well maintained and provide excellent accommodation for the children.  There are six well-equipped and resourced classrooms.  Each year group has a semi-open planned classroom with two carpeted class bases, a large craft area and an ICT suite.  There is a large multi-purpose hall and adjacent to this is our library with books, a resource area and two small group work rooms.  One other classroom is used by a privately run Nursery.

The teaching staff comprises the Headteacher with six full-time and two part-time teachers, who are supported by teaching assistants. We have a number of special needs children who are both statemented and on the Special Needs register at school action and school action plus.  In addition to the teaching staff there are three administrative staff, a caretaker, a cleaner and six dinner supervisors.  We have a dedicated staff working together with the parents and supported by a conscientious Governing body.  There is also a very active “Friends of Sandringham” association, which organises social and fund raising events for the benefit of the school.  We are proud to be a small but very active school because of the great support that we get from staff, Governors and parents.

The school is set in attractive, well maintained grounds, which contain a landscaped area with a pond (safely fenced), an environmental area with a planted quiet area and large playing fields.  The playground has been developed to include a number of areas to encourage different play activities; a wooden activity centre, climbing frames, games painted on the playground, a large playing field and a specified area for wheely toys to be used. Each classroom has easy access to the outside and all teachers plan some work outside each week. All classes have  a covered outside area which allows it to be used all year round.
